Buenos Aires is regularly affected by flooding. The area also has to deal with a lot of sedimentation and polluted freshwater resources. Structural solutions to these problems are being sought within the Blue Deal Partnership by setting up a local operational water organisation.

In Mozambique the Blue Deal Partnership is working to improve flood warning and protection systems. Plans are also being implemented to improve water quality and distribute the available water more efficiently. The local people are being informed and educated to prevent unhygienic conditions.

Dutch Water Authorities and South Africa have been working together for many years. Nine local water management organisations have been set up using Dutch knowledge. The Blue Deal Partnership is working on clean water and improved water availability. A number of pilot projects are being implemented to serve as examples to other regions.

Within the Blue Deal programme, water governance is being improved in 5 regions in Colombia. Existing wastewater treatment is being improved, water management plans are being implemented more efficiently, industrial dischargers are being called to account and decisions are increasingly based on reliable data. Long-term management and maintenance has also been organised.

Dutch Water Authorities has been active in Burkina Faso since 2014. One of its activities has involved setting up regional water management organisations. With the Blue Deal Partnership that cooperation is entering a new phase. Water monitoring is being improved, a new water laboratory has been opened, and work is under way to improve the treatment of wastewater.
